A long history of passion
The Schacher family has been running the Hotel Restaurant Foresta since 1963
The Hotel's structure dates back to the 19th century, when it was the only tavern and evening meeting place for the locals of Forno and the surrounding farms. Later, under the name of "Il Bisola", it was transformed into an inn, a post office and a rest stop for travellers in carriages. From 1920 to 1940, "Il Bisola" was run by the "Batol" family, who maintained the original characteristics.
While "Il Bisola" became a legend - in fact, it is said that the horses stopped automatically at the station and left again independently, bringing home safe and sound the carters who had drunk to much - Teresa Piazzi, at only fourteen years of age, began to work seasonally in various hotels in Val di Fassa and Val Gardena, acquiring experience in the hotel sector. In 1962, Teresa married Ugo Schacher, a butcher from the Pustertal valley. From this love story, Walter (1963) and Riccardo (1967) are born.

Hotel Foresta takes its name from the fir forest that surrounds it, halfway between Moena and the village of Forno.
In 1963, the history of the Schacher family is closely intertwined with that of the Hotel Foresta. The old inn "Il Bisola" is put up for sale and the Schacher family decides to buy it. Teresa Piazzi begins to run the restaurant and make changes to the building, until in 1969 she renames it the "Foresta". All sacrifices paid off: the clientele grew in number, so much so that Ugo left his job as a butcher to help his wife run Foresta.
In 1974 the hotel was completely rebuilt, with twenty rooms equipped with all comforts, a lounge, a meeting room, a bar, a restaurant and a large parking area. Walter and Riccardo, having completed their studies at the hotel school, started working with their parents: Walter is still the manager of the Foresta and Riccardo the chef of the restaurant.
They are still following in the footsteps of Teresa and Ugo: expanding and modernising the "Foresta" to make it more and more pleasant for guests, who have always appreciated the family management and admired the commitment and passion of the owners.
